Other than visiting the Temple, Rudy’s other mission was to take photographs to capture the special characters of the building and the people of FGS South Island. Rudy has been in the business of printing and publication himself, and demands high quality in the colours of publications printed by him. He expressed the view that to attract its readers, the colours of the photographs in a magazine should be consistent, and the photographs should be nice and comfortable to look at without being artificial. Rudy has been helping FGS North Island in taking photographs from major activities, and had also participated in the 2017 ‘Art Salon by Local Artists’ Art Exhibition held in Fo Guang Yuan (FGY) Art Gallery Auckland. Currently, Rudy’s photography are on display at the Exhibition held at FGY Art Gallery Christchurch. For this trip, the bad weather of South Island has not deterred Rudy from carrying out his work in taking photographs of the temple. Through his artistic eyes and his many angles of contemplation, Rudy was able to produce carefully executed photographs of matching colours and impeccable details. Coincidentally, Rudy attempted taking photographs of the Buddha Statue in the Buddha Hall at different times of the day, and was pleasantly surprised to find that the Buddha displayed a more compassionate look at night as compared to the Buddha’s look in the daytime. Rudy mentioned that FGS South Island had definitely left a deep impression on him this time around, and he planned to come back again to take more photographs of this remarkable building to enable the public to better appreciate its beauty.
